Gavin Maitland-Smith

Gavin joined Triple Point in late 2018 and is the Head of Structured and Wholesale Finance.

Gavin has over 20 years experience in working capital and SME finance, both as a lender and advisor and is responsible for the growth and management of Triple Point’s Structured Finance and Wholesale portfolio, which includes lending to trading businesses and to other lenders.

Gavin is passionate about ensuring that UK businesses are able to access financial solutions that match their requirement, rather than off the shelf lending “products”. He is particularly focused on assisting innovation in the lending space and supporting British engineering businesses.

Gavin holds a Masters Degree in Modern History from Brasenose College, Oxford, a Post Graduate Diploma in Law from the University of Law and was called to the Bar of England and Wales in 2002. Gavin also holds a practising certificate as a Solicitor Advocate.

Gavin is an experienced Non Executive Director and is currently Chair of Abingdon and Witney College, an award winning Oxfordshire based college of Further Education, supporting 16,000 students per annum.

Outside of work, Gavin is a qualified running technique coach and has completed over 10 ultra marathons, including a non-stop 100 mile run.
