We understand the importance of providing efficient energy solutions to help reduce carbon emissions and address the climate change emergency. Investing in these solutions cuts down on waste, reduces energy bills and makes our energy system more sustainable
Because of our involvement, 10 hydroelectric schemes are operating in Scotland - schemes that weren’t conceived of before we stepped in. We’ve also funded the development of state-of-the-art Vertical Farms that use 99% less water than traditional farming and saved the carbon equivalent to planting over 400,000 trees.
In 2018 we were chosen by the Department for Business Energy and Industrial Strategy to manage their £320m investment programme to promote energy efficient heat networks – changing the way we heat our homes and businesses, and helping reach the target of net zero by 2050.
Heat networks have been proven around the world as a reliable, cost-effective and low carbon means of providing heat.
